When the Sentence Ends:

Legal and Economic Barriers to Reentry

LEAP’s upcoming Continuing Legal Education (CLE) eventWhen the Sentence Ends: Legal and Economic Barriers to Reentry, offers a unique and immersive opportunity to explore the realities individuals face after incarceration. Designed for legal professionals and open to the broader community, this program brings together education, lived experience, and meaningful dialogue. At the center of the event is a guided reentry simulation, an interactive experience that places participants in the role of someone navigating life after incarceration. Through timed tasks and real-world scenarios, such as securing housing, employment, transportation, and essential services. Participants gain firsthand insight into the systemic barriers and everyday challenges many individuals encounter as they work to rebuild their lives. Following the simulation, attendees will participate in a panel discussion featuring professionals and advocates who offer diverse perspectives on reentry, ethical considerations in legal practice, and the economic realities that impact long-term stability. This conversation is designed to deepen understanding, encourage reflection, and highlight the importance of community-based support. Whether you are a legal professional seeking CLE credit, a service provider, or a community member interested in social impact, this event provides a powerful opportunity to learn, connect, and engage with LEAP’s mission of supporting women as they transition from incarceration to independence.
